Caprese Skewer Shot Glass Appetizers are so cute and amazingly easy to make. This is a great appetizer for summer parties, especially when tomatoes and basil are fresh and in season.

This recipe was one of the most popular at the graduation and confirmation Shot Glass Mini-Servings party we hosted. It’s perfect for Spring and Summer when fresh basil is in season, although basil is available at the grocery store year-round, or you can easily grow it in a kitchen window plant.
I love this appetizer because it’s bright, colorful, and healthy. It’s a great balance to heavier appetizers and party foods, and a wonderful option for people who are trying to lose weight or follow a hearty-healthy diet.

If you want to serve this dish as an appetizer at a sit-down meal, or to make them more hearty, consider serving caprese skewers on plates. This makes a gorgeous presentation.

Don’t skimp on the balsamic for this recipe, because it really makes the flavor pop. You can purchase balsamic vinegar and cook it down to make it richer, or buy ready-made Balsamic Vinegar glaze at most grocery stores.
