Summer is here and in our house that means a new routine. We enjoy a bit more downtime and relaxation during the summer, but we’ve also found it’s important to give our children structure and consistency. Daily chores are part of our routine no matter our kids ages. Here are printable chore lists for all ages. Print and start using these today.
Several of our children have special needs, and we have found they especially need to maintain a consistent schedule even during the summer months. All children do better with some type of routine, even if it’s different from a school year schedule.
Part of our daily routine including in the summer, is chores for everyone in the house. Kids as young as 2 years old are able to help with simple chores, and each year as they get older additional responsibility is added. These printables will give you ideas of what is realistic for each age group.
During the school year, we have routines each of us is responsible for every day (such as picking up toys, wiping down countertops, or unloading the dishwasher). Then on Saturday mornings we all do chores together like vacuuming and deep cleaning the kitchen and bathrooms.
During summers, I have a set chore time with the kids each morning after breakfast when we all work on cleaning. This frees up our weekends to go and do fun activities or work on bigger household projects.
