Let’s Create Your Weight Loss Results Together
You’ve done the diets. Counted points, cut carbs, said no to cake at every birthday party for a year straight. You’ve lost the weight before. You’ve gained it back before. Now you’re standing at the start line again, wondering if you have a willpower problem, a faith problem, or something deeper that neither one explains.
Christian weight loss coaching gives you what dieting alone never could: one-on-one support that treats your faith, your habits, and your body in connection.
I lost over 100 pounds and kept it off for 20 years. I was a binge eater, a chronic dieter, a secret eater. I prayed for years for God to take the weight off, and felt forgotten when He didn’t. I know exactly why the diets stopped working, and exactly why “just pray about it” never fixed your food issues either.
The solution is found in three places: your Hunger, your Habits, and your Heart. I call it healing your Soul Hunger, and here’s what it looks like.
1. Manage your Hunger.
Most women go about weight loss totally wrong. They think the only way to lose weight is cut back on calories, restrict, and starve themselves into the body they want.
This leads to:
- Binge eating, weekend food benders, hanger (hungry + angry), constant diet misery, and falling off the food wagon.
- Food obsession, food noise, and constant food thoughts.
- Weight that yo-yos up and down, plateaus, and stalls.
All of that results in a lack of weight loss progress and extreme frustration that makes them want to give up.
That’s why we teach a S.A.F.E. eating framework so you can shave off just enough calories to lose weight without triggering your body’s Primitive Hunger mechanism.
Almost every woman who comes to me thinks she has an emotional eating problem. That might be true, and I have solutions for that.
But first, we have to make sure you are nourishing yourself well. Some women even find that their “emotional eating problem” is cured when they eat adequately in the structured way I teach.
2. Fix Your Habits
If you had a pound gone for every time you said, “I know what I need to do. I just need to do it.”
You’d be at your goal weight by now, right?
What about if you’d kept off all the weight you’ve lost over the years? That would probably get you to a happy weight, too.
The thing is, weight loss stalls and regain are super common because life gets so lifey.
That’s why you need to build a habit stack that works even when life throws you curveballs. This gives you the organization to override the times when willpower gives out – because those times happen to all of us.
3. Hope for Your Heart
There are lots of reasons why you find yourself deep into the bag of chips or cookies for stress relief (often before you even quite realize you are doing it!).
Think phone calls with the blasted insurance company, frustration and boredom when day-to-day chores get old, agitation with your kids or husband, or simply exhaustion.
Add to that the unhealthy things you learned about food growing up, like the clean-your-plate club or not wanting to waste money by throwing food away.
Then there’s the way the Food Industry tempts you with ultra-processed junk food, fast food, and take-out 24/7.
Your food issues make sense.
They really do. You think you are crazy, but I think you’re normal. (Keep in mind that over 50% of the population of First-World countries is overweight.)
I get it. As someone who was a former binge eater, chronic dieter, compulsive overeater, and secret eater, there’s nothing you can tell me that will surprise or alarm me. (Been there, got the XXL t-shirt.)
I’ve been a Christian all my life. Jesus is my Lord and Savior, and I’ve served Him with my whole heart for as long as I can remember. (Read our Statement of faith here.)
I prayed and prayed about my weight struggles, but it felt like the Lord ignored me.
God healed other people, so why wouldn’t He heal my food issues, even though I so desperately begged Him for a miracle?
I’m opposed to Christianese and playing nicey-nicey just because we both believe in God. Let’s get to the heart of your spiritual battles. Because we both know that there are wounds that only God can heal when you surrender to Him.
If you feel like what you really need is accountability, I’ll hold your feet to the fire. We both want the same thing for you: weight-loss results, not just talk.

Binge Eating Recovery Coaching
I am a trained and certified Recovery Coach to support people who struggle with overeating, compulsive eating, food issues, binge eating and bulimia.

I offer private, one-to-one virtual coaching, or in-person coaching in the Buffalo, New York area. Due to the time commitment and expert guidance, coaching is a higher price than our other offers. Coaching packages are for those who have the financial resources for this type of high-touch, done-with-you experience.
I am committed to helping people break free from binge eating, bulimia, compulsive overeating, food obsession, and unhealthy emotional eating. You will find lasting peace with food and your body.
We use the S.A.F.E. Steps model for Recovery Coaching, which is modeled from The Binge Code. I highly recommend their free toolkit, course, and books.
While membership is not required for coaching, women who are in The Holy Weigh receive priority scheduling.
As the founder of Kingdom Builders Academy, I teach Christian speakers, writers and coaches how to increase their income, impact and influence. Whenever we are faced with big goals or challenging circumstances, I believe the quickest, easiest and most cost-effective way to get results is to hire an experienced coach. My work affords me the privilege to travel the world, so when I wanted strategies to lose a few pounds and maintain my weight on the road, I turned to Sara Borgstede. Her knowledge, accountability, compassion, spiritual wisdom, and hands-on, no-nonsense approach provided exactly what I was looking for. I give Coach Sara my highest recommendation. You are in good hands with her!

Why Coaching?
Here are some reasons why clients choose to invest in personalized weight loss coaching:
- You are stuck and can’t seem to make forward progress – at the scale, with healthy habits, personally or spiritually.
- You need personalized attention and accountability for your goals.
- You have good intentions but can’t seem to get started or stick with a program.
- You prefer a personalized path instead of working in a larger group.
- You want help making God the center of your weight loss journey.
- You’ve had a significant life change, such as a new baby, menopause, grief and loss, moving, or chronic health issues, and can’t seem to get back on track.
- You have health issues that make weight loss difficult. (Note: Coaching does not provide medical advice but can offer guidance in creating healthy habits while dealing with medical problems. I have dealt with ongoing medical conditions during weight loss and maintenance and speak from life experience.)
- You follow a specific diet, such as vegan, vegetarian, whole food, plant-based, or gluten-free, and need help making weight loss work within those parameters. (Note: Coaching does not replace the advice of a dietician.)
- You want to work with someone who “gets it” and has walked the walk of life at my goal weight for almost two decades.
How Coaching Sessions Work
Get the accountability and support to stick to the healthy habits that make weight loss happen. Discover reasons you self-sabotage and find out how to stop once and for all.
Weight loss coaching is different from therapy. (We are big fans of mental health therapy. Click here to learn more about therapy for weight loss or eating disorders.)
Coaching offers practical, specific strategies to move forward with healthy habits immediately. Rather than focusing on past hurt, the goal is to narrow your focus to the present and move forward successfully.
After investing in a package and completing a few pre-coaching questions, you will meet with me personally. Together, we create a roadmap of how you can reach your goals through the coaching process. Sessions are 45 minutes and take place via Zoom. Between sessions, coaching clients receive priority email support.
Coaching space is limited intentionally so that each client gets in-depth attention. Email sara@theholymess.com to inquire.
I knew the Lord lead me to you for a purpose. We all need hope and guidance and you have given me both. Sometimes life gets murky, and we can’t see a clear way out. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.
