I spent one summer of my high school years with good friends watching the 1987 movie The Princess Bride over and over.
I’ve passed the torch on to my own kids. As they are headed out the door for school, backpacks crammed, coats eschew, feet stuffed in shoes without untying, I’ll often give them a wave and say, “Have fun storming the castle!”
It’s my way of saying, “I love you to pieces and I’m praying miracles happen to you today.” But those words out loud would be soooo embarrassing Mom! So we’ll stick to the movie quote.
These days, I head to an important school meeting, my mind forming the words I’ll use to advocate for this child. As I leave for a church event, I grab keys and papers praying God will give me phrases to speak His message.
My heart buzzes with extra love when one of my teenagers says to me, “Bye, Mom, have fun storming the castle!”
*Deep Breath.* I can do this. The Borgstede team has my back.
