For God So Loved the World Verse
Perhaps the most famous Bible verse in the world is also one of the most meaningful: John 3:16.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life.
John 3:16
In this passage, we see just how deep God’s love is for us. He was willing to give his only son, Jesus, to be our Savior.
God is Love Bible Verse
In 1 John 4:16, the holy scripture says that God is love. God doesn’t just have love for you. He IS love.
So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him.
1 John 4:16
Bible Passage about God Loving Us
If you ever doubt God’s love for you, read 1 John 4. Here, we are reminded that it’s not about our love for God but about God loving us.
In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.
1 John 4:9-12
Scripture on Loving Others
At times, loving other people can seem like an impossible task. Whether it’s that oh-so-annoying co-worker, an ex-spouse, or someone who hurt you deeply, showing love seems impossible – let alone feeling loving. This is one reason why we need God’s love in us.
1 John reminds us,
We know and rely on the love God has for us.
1 John 4:17
God Disciplines Those He Loves Bible Verse
Proverbs 3:11-12 reminds us that God reproves those He loves, not as a punishment but as a Father who cares for his children.
My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline
Proverbs 3:11-12
or be weary of his reproof,
for the Lord reproves him whom he loves,
as a father the son in whom he delights.
Love Is… Bible Verses
Read about the characteristics of love in 1 Corinthians 13. This guides our understanding in what true love actually is and how God loves us.
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth.
1 Corinthians 13: 4-6
The Greatest is Love
Later in this meaningful chapter of the Bible about love, 1 Corinthians 13:13 says that faith, hope and love last forever. All are important, but the greatest is love.
So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13:13
Love Conquers All Bible Verse
While the Bible doesn’t directly say “love conquers all”, in 1 Corinthians 13 we read about how love endures all things and never ends.
Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends.
1 Corinthians 13:7-8
Nothing Can Separate Us From God’s Love Bible Verse
Romans 8:35-39 teaches us that nothing can separate us from God’s love. What an incredible reminder of our safety, protection, and comfort in the love of God our Father.
Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? As it is written, ‘For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.’ No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.
Romans 8:35-39
30 Bible Verses about God’s Love
1. John 3:16-17 – God’s love brings eternal life.
For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but in order that the world might be saved through him.
John 3:16-17
2. Ephesians 2:4-7 – God’s grace makes us alive in Christ.
But God, being rich in mercy, because of the great love with which he loved us, even when we were dead in our trespasses, made us alive together with Christ—by grace you have been saved—and raised us up with him and seated us with him in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus, so that in the coming ages he might show the immeasurable riches of his grace in kindness toward us in Christ Jesus.
Ephesians 2:4-7
3. 1 John 4:16 – God is love, and love abides in us.
So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in them.
1 John 4:16
4. John 15:12-13 – Love is the greatest commandment.
This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.
John 15:12-13
5. Proverbs 3:11-12 – The Lord disciplines those He loves.
My son, do not despise the Lord’s discipline or be weary of his reproof, for the Lord reproves him whom he loves, as a father the son in whom he delights.
Proverbs 3:11-12
6. Joshua 22:5 – Faithfulness to God is essential.
Only be very careful to observe the commandment and the law that Moses the servant of the Lord commanded you, to love the Lord your God, and to walk in all his ways and to keep his commandments and to cling to him and to serve him with all your heart and with all your soul.
Joshua 22:5
7. 1 Corinthians 13:1-3 – Without love, our actions are meaningless.
If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. And if I have prophetic powers, and understand all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have all faith, so as to remove mountains, but do not have love, I am nothing. If I give away all I have, and if I deliver up my body to be burned, but do not have love, I gain nothing.
1 Corinthians 13:1-3
8. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7 – Love is characterized by patience and kindness.
Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. It does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejoice at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things.
1 Corinthians 13:4-7
9. 1 Corinthians 13:8-13 – Love endures forever, unlike other gifts.
Love never ends. As for prophecies, they will pass away; as for tongues, they will cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away. For we know in part and we prophesy in part, but when the perfect comes, the partial will pass away. When I was a child, I spoke like a child, I thought like a child, I reasoned like a child. When I became a man, I gave up childish ways. For now we see in a mirror dimly, but then face to face. Now I know in part; then I shall know fully, even as I have been fully known. So now faith, hope, and love abide, these three; but the greatest of these is love.
1 Corinthians 13:8-13
10. Romans 8:35-39 – Nothing can separate us from God’s love.
For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord.”
Romans 8:35-39
11. 1 Peter 1:22-23 – Love one another deeply.
Having purified your souls by your obedience to the truth for a sincere brotherly love, love one another earnestly from a pure heart, since you have been born again, not of perishable seed but of imperishable, through the living and abiding word of God.”
1 Peter 1:22-23
12. 1 John 3:16-18 – Love is shown through actions.
By this we know love, that he laid down his life for us, and we ought to lay down our lives for the brothers. But if anyone has the world’s goods and sees his brother in need, yet closes his heart against him, how does God’s love abide in him? Little children, let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth.”
1 John 3:16-18
13. 1 John 3:23-24 – Believing and loving are essential.
And this is his commandment, that we believe in the name of his Son Jesus Christ and love one another, just as he has commanded us. Whoever keeps his commandments abides in God, and God in him. And by this we know that he abides in us, by the Spirit whom he has given us.”
1 John 3:23-24
14. Deuteronomy 6:4-9 – Love the Lord with all your heart.
Hear, O Israel: The Lord our God, the Lord is one. You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your might. And these words that I command you today shall be on your heart. You shall teach them diligently to your children, and shall talk of them when you sit in your house, and when you walk by the way, and when you lie down, and when you rise. You shall bind them as a sign on your hand, and they shall be as frontlets between your eyes. You shall write them on the doorposts of your house and on your gates.”
Deuteronomy 6:4-9
15. Ephesians 4:1-6 – Unity in the body of Christ.
I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, urge you to walk in a manner worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call—one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all.”
Ephesians 4:1-6
16. Romans 5:3-5 – Suffering produces hope.
Not only that, but we rejoice in our sufferings, knowing that suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope, and hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.”
Romans 5:3-5
17. Romans 5:6-8 – Christ died for the ungodly.
For while we were still weak, at the right time Christ died for the ungodly. For one will scarcely die for a righteous person—though perhaps for a good person one would dare even to die—but God shows his love for us in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.”
Romans 5:6-8
18. Galatians 2:20 – Living by faith in Christ.
I have been crucified with Christ. It is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me. And the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me.”
Galatians 2:20
19. Isaiah 38:17 – God’s love brings healing.
Behold, it was for my welfare that I had great bitterness; but in love you have delivered my life from the pit of destruction, for you have cast all my sins behind your back.”
Isaiah 38:17
20. 1 John 4:7-8 – Love comes from God.
Beloved, let us love one another, for love is from God, and whoever loves has been born of God and knows God. Anyone who does not love does not know God, because God is love.”
1 John 4:7-8
21. 1 John 4:9-12 – God’s love is revealed through Christ.
In this the love of God was made manifest among us, that God sent his only Son into the world, so that we might live through him. In this is love, not that we have loved God but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us.”
1 John 4:9-12
22. 1 John 4:16 – God is love, and we abide in Him.
So we have come to know and to believe the love that God has for us. God is love, and whoever abides in love abides in God, and God abides in them.”
1 John 4:16
23. 1 John 4:18-21 – Perfect love casts out fear.
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love. We love because he first loved us. If anyone says, ‘I love God,’ and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen cannot love God whom he has not seen. And this commandment we have from him: whoever loves God must also love his brother.”
1 John 4:18-21
24. Zephaniah 3:17 – The Lord rejoices over His people.
The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.”
Zephaniah 3:17
25. Romans 13:10 – Love fulfills the law.
Love does no wrong to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfilling of the law.”
Romans 13:10
26. Luke 6:27-31 – Love your enemies and do good.
But I say to you who hear, Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who abuse you. To one who strikes you on the cheek, offer the other also, and from one who takes away your cloak do not withhold your tunic either. Give to everyone who begs from you, and from one who takes away your goods do not demand them back. And as you wish that others would do to you, do so to them.”
Luke 6:27-31
27. John 16:27 – The Father loves you because of Christ.
For the Father himself loves you, because you have loved me and have believed that I came from God.”
John 16:27

Keep yourselves in the love of God, waiting for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ that leads to eternal life.”
