Lose Weight by God’s Power
For years I begged God to heal me of my eating addictions, yet I stayed stuck in unhealthy patterns.
I came to realize that I would never find success in overcoming my eating problems without relying on God’s strength and healing.
When I ultimately lost 100 pounds, the difference came from changing my core believes about who I am in Christ Jesus.
These Christian weight loss affirmations and Bible verses were an important part of my transformation.
Breaking Bad Patterns With Affirmations
Should Christians use daily affirmations? While there are some cautions, I believe yes, these positive statements of truth are a powerful way the Holy Spirit does His work of sanctification in your life.
God does not want you to stay stuck in unhealthy eating patterns. He longs for you to walk in victory, for you are more than a conqueror (Romans 8:37).
That doesn’t mean He will bring instant healing.
Mental work is involved, plus a daily commitment to positive changes. It won’t be easy, but it will be worth it.
Focus on Spiritual Growth with One Small Change at a Time
Losing a lot of weight can seem overwhelming until you focus one step at a time.
Each moment, make the next right decision. Trust God and pray; He will give you the strength to overcome temptation when losing weight…or in any situation when you ask Him (1 Corinthians 10:13).
During the years I was in the process of losing weight, at times I was angry at God for not healing me on my timeline. I wanted to be better and I wanted it now.
Yet God uses all types of life experiences to change and mold us within His time frame.
Each of these Biblical affirmations was vital to my weight loss success. The way I think and speak to myself has changed dramatically.
My hope and prayer for you is that you, too, will experience the joy and peace of relying on God as the source of strength for your weight loss.
Why Christian Weight Loss Affirmations?
Affirmations are positive statements we speak to ourselves as we reach toward a goal.
Written affirmations, used daily, are helpful when changing your negative thinking patterns.
In Romans 12:1-2, Paul tells us to become transformed by the renewing of our minds.
That’s exactly what you are doing when you use Biblical affirmations to focus on healthy habits.
State weight loss affirmations in the positive.
State what you want to do, not what you are trying to avoid.
You are following Paul’s directive in Philippians 4 to think on things that are of good report when you do this. You are teaching your mind what is good and right, and turning from pitfalls and negatives.
Why specifically Christian weight loss affirmations?
Many typical positive affirmations are geared toward self-esteem. There can be benefit to these. (You are amazing as a creation of God!) Still, overall the focus is on you and your ability to do the work.
As Christians, we have a whole new perspective. Life is not about how good you are – it’s about how good God is.

Wow sara congrats on your weight loss you look stunning. Losing 100lbs is a huge feat.
So far I have lost 55lbs over 5 months. I have 46lbs more to reach my goal weight.
I particularly resonated with affirmation 4, “God gives me strength to overcome temptation”
As we are on our weight loss journey, we have all sorts of temptation out
there which can hinder us from success.
The temptation to overeat, the temptation fast food , temptation not to exercise,
temptation of food advertising, the temptation of that extra donut.
The journey to weight loss requires dedication, time, and commitment
and it is very easy to get sucked in to the temptations out there
and fall back into unhealthy eating habits.
I have a mood board of my goal weight (on my phone, wallet, on my bedroom wall) which
I see everyday, which helps stay accountable, and makes any goal believable.
Affirmations as great, because they help reprogram the subconscious mind
and they give you the confidence to consistently take action daily.
