HAPPY HOLIDAYS EVERYONE!!
I hope this post finds you happy and healthy and in the holiday spirit.
I wanted to take a moment to briefly let you know about a holiday blog series I’m really excited about: 12 DAYS OF CHRISTMAS MOVIES.
From December 13-24, I will be publishing a daily blog describing a movie or Christmas special that I shall either encourage you to see during your holiday or avoid at all costs. I have decided to concentrate on films and programs for this series that may not be as popular as the old standbys. After all, do you really need to read another thing about IT’S A WONDERFUL LIFE or A CHRISTMAS STORY during your lifetime? I want to spotlight the choices you may be skipping over as you browse your Netflix or Amazon queue.
I also want to highlight some more popular films that may have Christmas themes or take place around the holiday season but aren’t necessarily considered “Christmas movies”. A good example, which won’t be appearing on this particular series, is one of my favorites, EDWARD SCISSORHANDS. Tim Burton’s fable doesn’t initially strike me as a Christmas movie, but when you watch it and realize how much of it takes place during the holidays and how some of its themes are certainly appropriate for this time of year, it becomes a potential traditional December viewing.
Many of the films in this series I am actually watching for the very first time specifically for the purpose of this blog series, and that’s kinda exciting for me, albeit time consuming.
Just to add a little suspense and intrigue, I can share with you that one of the films I just watched may actually be the worst film I have ever seen in my life! It was a painful experience to sit through, but it’s going to be a lot of fun to write about!
Throughout the course of this series, I hope you will take a moment or two to either comment on the specific movie of Christmas special if you’ve seen it – especially if you disagree with me – or share your own choices for required Christmas and holiday viewing.
By the way, if you haven’t gotten my free Christmas movie printable listing my choices of 20 can’t-miss holiday movies, click here. You may find one or two surprises along with a new title or two you can add to your annual holiday viewing.
Until the 13th, I wish you all the best and look forward to sharing my movie recommendations and warnings with you!
