What is New Life in Jesus?
Do you find yourself struggling with who you really are are, wondering if you are enough, or who Christ created you to be? Seek guidance in the Lord’s Biblical truths.
All of us are sinful people who cannot make lasting change on our own. When you become a Christian, by the power of the Holy Spirit you accept that Jesus is your Savior.
Lasting change happens not because of the good works you do, but because of Jesus at work in you.
Through this 30 day study, the scripture verses will reveal exactly who God made you to be. God longs for you to know who you are in Christ so that you can live your life as God intended.
7 New Life Scriptures – Bible Verses about Newness of Life
Here are some meaningful Bible verses about new beginnings.
1. 2 Corinthians 5:17 – The old has passed away, behold the new has come.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come.
2 Corinthians 5:17
As you think about a new year, new life, or a fresh start, you might wonder if it’s even possible for you, considering the wrong things you have done or the messes you have created in your life. This verse in Corinthians is such an important reminder that you are a new creation in Jesus. God creates a new heart in you that turns to Him and desires His will for your life.
2. Romans 8:15-17 – You received the Spirit of adoption as sons.
For you did not receive the spirit of slavery to fall back into fear, but you have received the Spirit of adoption as sons, by whom we cry, “Abba! Father!” The Spirit himself bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God, and if children, then heirs—heirs of God and fellow heirs with Christ, provided we suffer with him in order that we may also be glorified with him.
Romans 8:15-17
3. Colossians 3:3 – You have died and your life is hidden in Christ.
For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
Colossians 3:3
This verse can seem stark but I love it for that very reason. You have died. Your selfish desires can be put to death. Your own willfulness can come to end. Instead, you have new life in Christ. When I work with women who come to me for Christian weight loss, I remind them that they can’t lose weight on their own. (Most of them, like me, have tried hundreds of times.) But you can do it by the power of the Holy Spirit at work within you.
4. 1 Corinthians 3:9 – You are God’s building.
For we are God’s fellow workers. You are God’s field, God’s building.
1 Corinthians 3:9
You are God’s building. The Holy Spirit is at work in you, preparing and equipping you for the callings God has for you life. This can feel overwhelming but remember it is a privilege.
5. Ephesians 4:4-7 – One Lord, One Faith, One Baptism.
There is one body and one Spirit—just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call— one Lord, one faith, one baptism, one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all. But grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift.
Ephesians 4:4-7
You are an important part of the body of Christ and you have important gifts. Never doubt that what you have to share with the world matters. Each of us has been given grace because of Jesus’ work on the cross for us.
6. Joshua 1:6-8 – Be strong and courageous.
Be strong and courageous, for you shall cause this people to inherit the land that I swore to their fathers to give them. Only be strong and very courageous, being careful to do according to all the law that Moses my servant commanded you. Do not turn from it to the right hand or to the left, that you may have good success wherever you go. This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.
Joshua 1:6-8
Starting something new requires courage. What is God calling you to do in your life that’s new? Maybe it’s a new relationship. Maybe it’s moving to a new place. Perhaps it’s starting a ministry or writing a book. This verse in Joshua is an important reminder that you will have success when you follow the Lord’s direction.
7. 2 Peter 1:3
His divine power has granted to us all things that pertain to life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us to his own glory and excellence.
2 Peter 1:3
When you are focused on a new path, God’s power will give you new life. Focus on God’s will for you by regularly reading his Word and praying for direction. You cannot fail when you keep God at the center of your efforts.
Should Christians Make New Year’s Resolutions?
Are you wondering what the Bible says about New Year’s resolutions? Certainly, the Bible encourages us to continually make improvements in our lives in order to be more like Christ. This change comes not from within us but is due to the power of God at work in our lives.
We are sinful people living in a broken world, so in this lifetime we will never be able to accomplish all we resolve to do. Still, we should continue to seek after God.
Billgraham.org says we are to turn to God, confessing our sins to Him and seeking His help to live the way we should.
