How Many Points is Coffee on Weight Watchers?
Black coffee is zero points on WW. You can drink coffee without limit and without tracking it.
Does Coffee Count as Water on Weight Watchers?
No. You are welcome to enjoy coffee on WW but it does not count as water.
What is Candy Coffee?
When I’m coaching women on weight loss strategies, I call frou-frou coffee drinks “candy coffee” because many coffee shop drinks have as much sugar, fat, and calories as a candy bar. Keep this in mind when learning how to make healthier adjustments.
Ideally your goal should be not to consume any drinks with calories whenever possible. Your appetite doesn’t recognize calories from drinks as well as it does actual food, so it makes weight loss harder when you consume calories in liquid form.
Many people start the WW program and are shocked to learn that their favorite coffee shop order or homemade afternoon pick-me-up beverage is 10, 15 or more Weight Watchers points. (As much as we love our coffee, when you only have around 23 points for the day, you don’t want to use half of them on one beverage, no matter how delicious.)
Does this mean you need to give up your love of coffee delights? No, it doesn’t.
Check out these Weightwatchers Coffee Hacks below to learn how you can cut the calories and reduce the points, all while enjoying your favorite beverage.
Best Low Point Coffee for Weight Watchers
Since black coffee is zero points, keep in mind that it’s what you add to your coffee that increases points. To lose weight, look for ways to reduce the calories, sugar, and fat in your favorite morning drink mixture.
Premier Protein – 2 pts per carton
Premier Protein is the best creamer for Weight Watchers because there is so much you can do with it. Premier Protein is just 2 points for a whole carton, and you only need anywhere from a couple tablespoons to 1/3 of a carton to make a cup of coffee taste like a real treat. Enjoy it hot or serve cold over ice for a frappe-like delight.
I personally love caramel flavor the most in coffee, but vanilla, latte and chocolate are also good.
You can get Premier Protein at wholesale places like Sam’s and Costco. It’s available at Walmart in the Pharmacy section.
Walmart also now has a Great Value brand available that is cheaper and the points are the same. Premier Protein is also available on Amazon.
Top Sugar Free Syrup for Coffee on WW – Zero Points
If you need a bit of sweetness in your coffee without added sugar, these sugar-free syrups cannot be beat. (These do contain artificial sweeteners.)
I’ve tried Torani, Jordan’s, and Starbucks and all are equally good. I find these at Bed, Bath, and Beyond and sometimes Walmart. The best place to find a wide variety is to order on Amazon.
Tip: Be sure you purchase the sugar-free variety. Full-sugar syrups are quite high in points.
Weight Watchers Coffee Creamers: Sugar Free Creamers – 0 – 1 point
Sugar free powdered coffee creamers are widely available and are 0 points for 4 tsp, making this one of the few zero point coffee creamer options.
Sugar free liquid creamers (found in the dairy section of your local grocery store) are typically 2 T – 1 point, although take care because it’s easy to pour much more than 2 T and the points can add up quickly. These are now available in a wide variety of flavors. Be sure you are grabbing the sugar-free variety for the lowest points.
Point for creamer are the same on Weight Watchers Plan for 2022 and 2023, Personal Points and MyWW Green, Blue, and Purple plans.
Coffee Mate Italian Sweet Cream Weight Watchers Points (regular) – 2 points for 1 T
Coffee Mate Italian Sweet Cream Weight Watchers Points (sugar-free) – 0 points for 1 T (another great zero point creamer option!), 1 point for 2 T
Coffee Mate Vanilla creamer (regular) – 2 points for 1 T
Coffee Mate Vanilla creamer (fat-free) – 1 point for 1 T
Natural Bliss Caramel almond milk creamer – 2 points for 1 T
Natural Bless Sweet creme coconut milk creamer – 2 points for 1 T
Splenda Hazelnut coffee creamer – 0 points for 1 T
Mini Moos – Zero points
Mini Moos, shelf stable half and half, are 0 points for one mini cup size serving. Be sure to watch portion size as these do have points if you use more than one.
Nut Pods 2 T – 0 points
Nut Pods is a half almond milk/half coconut milk non-dairy creamer, and they’ve recently released a creamer made with oat milk as well. Many people prefer it because it is all natural.
Keep in mind that if you have more than one serving, the points are no longer zero.
This creamer is Keto and Paleo friendly. Find Nut Pods on Amazon and in some local grocery stories.
This is my creamer of choice because it’s made without artificial sweeteners. Nutpods is slightly sweet and creamy, but not nearly as sweet as sugar-free creamers like Coffee Mate.
Extracts and Flavored Coffee – 0 points
Remember that using coffee that is already flavored does not add any additional points, and the same is true for using extract.
Only use a tiny bit of extract or it can turn your coffee bitter.
Best Milk, Alternative Milks, and Half and Half for WW
Here are some good milk options to add to your coffee.
Skim milk – 1 point for 1/4 cup
Unsweetened Almond milk – 0 points for 1/2 cup, 1 point for 1 cup – and this froths well, too.
Unsweetened Cashew or oat milk – 2-3 point per cup depending on brand
Fat Free Half & half – 1 point for 2 T
Half and half – 1 point for 1 T
Milk Frother
A hand-held frother is great for making your own cappuccinos and frappes. Use skim, almond, or coconut milk for the lowest points.
How to Make Your Own WW Frappe Recipe for 1 point
Here is a simple recipe to make your own Weight Watchers frappe.
- 1/2 cup almond milk- unsweetened like Almond Breeze (0 points)
- 1 cup boiling water
- 1 tsp instant coffee
- 1/2 scoop Quest Salted Caramel protein powder (1 point)
Mix milk with protein powder. Mix water with instant coffee. Mix the two mixtures together. Serve and enjoy.
Cold Brew Coffee Pot
Cold brew coffee at home with a cold brew coffee maker, or many Keurig machines have a cold brew feature. Serve over ice with Premier Protein.
Cold Brew Coffee in a Mason Jar
Add 1/2 cup coffee grounds to a Mason jar and fill with 24 ounces of water. Leave overnight in fridge and then strain. You now have delicious mason jar coffee.
Add Premier Protein, sugar free syrup, or other additions of your choice and serve over ice.

Top Coffee Machine for WW
In order to make all of these delightful treats, you need to start with a great cup of coffee. At our house, we think the Keurig can’t be beat for quick and easy convenience.
Weight Watchers Coffee Smoothies – 2 points
For a delicious treat, try mixing Weight Watchers smoothie mix with cold coffee (2 pts) or cold coffee and milk (3-5 points depending on milk used).
Note that WW is ending their food program in December of 2023. You can still find some of their mixes and products online and in stores until current stock is gone.

For those of us (me), who don’t use fat-free and sugar-free products and premier, drinking coffee has become a real point issue. When sugar-free products are taken out of the equation, it leaves water., which can get old in the long run. Just my two cents

Felice, thanks for your comment. If you don’t do artificial sweetners, it does make things a bit more limited but totally do-able. Have you tried Nutpods (mentioned in blog post). That’s one of the main alternatives I see people use who do only whole foods. Blessings!
