How do you make breadsticks from scratch without yeast?
Check out this two-ingredient breadstick recipe that uses just self-rising flour and Greek yogurt. That’s the base.
Add seasonings to boost or change the flavor. This is a quick and easy recipe that we love to adapt. Two-ingredient dough can be shaped into not just breadsticks but alsoย pizza crust,ย bagels,ย cinnamon rolls, aย loaf of bread, and more.
Will two ingredient dough rise?
This two-ingredient breadsticks recipe will rise some, but not a lot, because it doesn’t have yeast.
Most 2 ingredient doughs use self-rising flour, and it’s the baking powder in the self-rising flour that makes the dough rise. Baking powder is made up of a chemical called sodium carbonate, which, when mixed with water will, releases carbon dioxide, causing baked items to rise.
Why is my two-ingredient dough sticky?
Is your 2-ingredient dough stickyer than it should be? Try adding an extra couple tablespoons of self-rising flour until the dough has the correct consistency you desire. If the two-ingredient dough is too dry, try adding a tablespoon of Greek yogurt till you get the consistency you need.
When I make two ingredient dough, I like to mix 2 cups of flour with 1.5 cups of Greek yogurt. This produces a dry dough. Then, I add more yogurt until the dough is the desired consistency. That way, the dough isn’t too sticky.
Can two ingredient dough be refrigerated?
Yes. Dough can be made and stored 2-3 days in an airtight container in the refrigerator. Take it out and let it come to room temperature before rolling out and baking it.
The dough can also be frozen. This works exceptionally well if you form the dough into a pizza crust and freeze it. I like to make individual mini-pizzas that I can quickly pull out and make into my own ww pizza for family movie nights.
What goes well with breadsticks?
We love making this 2 two-ingredient breadsticks recipe when we have a pasta night. This Instant Pot Pasta dish is hardy and excellent with the breadsticks. How Do You Store Leftover Homemade Breadsticks?
To maximize the shelf life of 2 ingredient breadsticks, cool them thoroughly before storing and place them in a plastic storage bag, or wrap them in foil and store them at room temperature. If properly stored, these 2 ingredient breadsticks will last 3 to 4 days at normal room temperature. But honestly, we gobble them up and they never last that long.
Do not store cooked breadsticks in the refrigerator because this will cause them to dry out.
If you need them to last longer than 3 to 4 days, you can freeze them and then take them out when you want to enjoy them. You can reheat breadsticks in the oven at 350 degrees for a few minutes or until they have reached and are heated through.
